Gaming establishments in Chile contributed a substantial sum of 90 million Chilean pesos to the government’s coffers in 2021. This figure encompasses regional government levies, value-added tax, and income tax. The regional authorities will receive these funds in March 2022, as they are disbursed one month after the operators settle their tax obligations.

The overall gross gaming revenue (GGR) generated by the Chilean casino sector in 2021 reached 2942.5 billion Chilean pesos. December’s revenue alone amounted to 459.6 billion Chilean pesos, demonstrating a notable rebound from 2020 levels. In fact, December’s revenue surpassed pre-pandemic monthly totals from 2019, registering a 10% increase.

This robust performance in December resulted in the 20 casinos paying 142.1 billion Chilean pesos in taxes during that month, significantly surpassing the previous year’s figures.

The Monticello Casino, situated in the O’Higgins region, contributed the most, paying 37.5 billion Chilean pesos. Enjoy Viña del Mar in Valparaíso followed closely, contributing 15.2 billion Chilean pesos. Marina del Sol Talcahuano in Biobío secured third place, paying 14 billion Chilean pesos in taxes for the month.

The newly formed entity, resulting from the recent union of Carriers Enjoy and Dream, will command a significant portion of the nation’s gaming sector, holding a dominant 58% stake.
