The Sunflower State achieved a new peak in sports betting earnings in December, hitting $20.1 million (£15.8 million/€18.4 million). However, the amount wagered was slightly below the all-time high established in November.
Kansas surpassed its previous sports betting revenue record in December. The December earnings were 39.6% higher than the state’s previous record of $14.4 million in October. This also represents a 95.2% jump compared to December 2022’s $10.3 million and a 125.8% increase compared to November 2023’s $8.9 million.
Of the total December revenue, online betting contributed $19.2 million, while retail betting generated $808,961.
In terms of wagering activity, bettors spent a total of $259.7 million during the month. This was slightly less than the record $260.9 million in November but marked a 40.4% year-over-year increase.
In December, consumers placed bets totaling $249.1 million on online betting platforms in Kansas and $10.6 million at retail sportsbooks.
Boot Hill Casino and DraftKings continued to lead the online market. The partnership generated a total of $8.5 million in revenue and $103.8 million in wagering volume.
Kansas Star and FanDuel came in second with $7.2 million in revenue and $86.5 million in wagering volume, followed by Kansas Crossing and BetMGM with $3 million in revenue and $22.6 million in wagering volume.
In the retail sector, Hollywood Casino once again emerged as the top performer. The venue generated $545,035 in revenue and $7.8 million in wagering volume.
In the realm of Kansas’ retail sports betting landscape, Kansas Star and FanDuel reign supreme, mirroring the online market’s hierarchy. Kansas Star garnered $208,110 in retail earnings, processing $1.8 million in wagers.
Boot Hill and DraftKings secured the third position, generating $42,507 in revenue and handling $417,104 in bets.
Kansas reaped $2 million in sports betting taxes during that period. Online betting contributed $1.9 million, while retail betting generated $80,895.
Cumulative wagers have surpassed the $1 billion mark.
Total wagers from the start of the fiscal year to the present have reached $1.16 billion. Online betting accounts for $1.11 billion, while retail betting contributes $52.9 million.
In terms of earnings, the aggregate figure stands at $63.1 million. Online betting contributed $59.3 million, and retail betting contributed $3.8 million.
Cumulative taxes from the start of the fiscal year to the present have reached $6.3 million.
