Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has inked a pact with an unidentified gambling establishment in Ontario to bring them online. GiG will furnish its platform, sportsbook, and OMNI solutions to the casino.
GiG was granted authorization to operate in Ontario in July. They have already assisted two other gambling houses in launching in the province. Kings Media Ltd launched in August with GiG’s assistance.
The agreement is anticipated to be finalized in the initial six months of 2023.
Ben Clemes, the Managing Director of GiG North America, expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with a well-established casino in Ontario. He stated that the deal will enable GiG to exhibit its OMNI solution and its comprehensive array of offerings, encompassing casino games, sports wagering, and front-end solutions.
Nevertheless, a legal dispute initiated by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake could potentially impact the trajectory of online gambling in Ontario.
The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has initiated legal proceedings against the province of Ontario and the Attorney General, claiming that their rules surrounding gambling infringe upon the Constitution.
Canadian legislation specifies that commercial wagering and gaming are only permissible if they are “run and controlled” by the provincial government. Although most provinces providing online gambling have government-controlled monopolies, Ontario introduced a licensing system this year, authorizing over 30 different operators.
The Kanawaki Mohawk Council contends that while “run and controlled” lacks a precise definition, it is evident that the province is not running or controlling online gambling.
