The Appeals Tribunal in the Philippines has issued a verdict supporting Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment Inc. (TRLEI), enabling its executive leadership to maintain operations. This judgment effectively nullifies the petition submitted by Japanese tycoon Kazuo Okada, who aimed to reclaim authority over the Okada Manila casino resort.

Okada was recently expelled from the casino after a tense confrontation where he and his associates were forcefully evicted from the property. He had petitioned the court to prohibit the TRLEI board from functioning, but the court determined that he lacked the standing to make such a demand.

This legal dispute originates from Okada’s 2017 dismissal as Chief Executive Officer, Chairperson, and Director of TRLEI due to accusations of financial impropriety, illicit financial transactions, and fraudulent activities. Nevertheless, Okada endeavored to retake control of the casino in May, citing a High Court ruling that he construed as reinstating him.

However, Okada’s efforts to assert his claim have encountered opposition, culminating in the recent episode where a contingent of 50 individuals, allegedly gathered by the Philippine Gaming and Amusement Corporation (PAGCOR) and the Philippine National Police, forcibly removed him from the Okada Manila premises.

In the wake of the recent Court of Appeals decision, Okada Manila maintains its commitment to seeking legal redress concerning the forceful seizure that transpired on September 2nd. Their counsel is moving forward with an appeal to the highest court.
