Alberta bingo establishments are preparing to unlock their doors once more, but patrons will notice some changes.
Initially slated for an early March relaunch, the recent spike in infections has pushed their reopening to late March, as part of the third phase of Alberta’s phased resumption plan. Despite a majority of the population being inoculated, stringent safety measures will remain, including disinfection procedures and temperature screenings.
This reopening has been long-awaited by these enterprises. The pandemic dealt them a severe blow, with video lottery terminals deactivated for approximately 160 days and table games unavailable for nearly 200. While they are optimistic about customers feeling at ease upon their return, they acknowledge it may require a period of adjustment. The government, too, anticipates a resurgence in gaming income, which experienced a significant decline in the previous year.
The remarkable triumph can be linked to a suppressed desire for wagering.
