Allwyn is ecstatic to return for the 2024 Wings for Life World Run!
Save the date: May 5th, as this remarkable event unfolds concurrently worldwide. Every registration and contribution directly funds pioneering spinal cord injury research.
As a worldwide partner, Allwyn, the UK’s National Lottery administrator, is going above and beyond to champion and elevate this fantastic initiative. The previous year’s run generated an astounding €43 million (approximately $45.8 million!) for studies and clinical examinations.
What distinguishes this event? It’s a global festival of acceptance, inviting individuals of all capacities to engage in any manner possible.
Pavel Turek, Allwyn’s chief officer for international brand, enterprise messaging, and corporate social responsibility, encapsulated it perfectly: “Allwyn is dedicated to inclusivity and making a difference, which resonates deeply with the essence of the Wings for Life World Run.”
He continued, “We’re immensely honored to be the official global partner for the second consecutive year. It’s a singular and motivating occasion where everyone can run or walk in unison. Regardless of our chosen mode of participation, we all emerge victorious.”
Here’s the catch: there’s no predetermined finish line! Thirty minutes post-start, a virtual “Catcher Car” begins moving, progressively gaining speed. Once it passes you, your race concludes.
The global race persists until the Catcher Car has overtaken every last participant, whether they’re using a wheelchair, strolling, or running. It’s a true testament to the strength of the human spirit and resolve.
Nick Webbon, the ParalympicsGB leader, stressed the significance of inclusiveness in athletics as the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games draw near. He underscored ParalympicsGB’s objective to foster a more equitable world for individuals with impairments through the impact of athletic endeavors. Webbon commended the synergy between OVB’s principles and the Wings for Life World Run’s purpose, emphasizing the profound meaning of the occasion.
OVB’s dedication goes beyond mere publicity, with more than 7,000 staff members taking part in Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Greece, Cyprus, the UK, and the US. Mark Hermans, Head of the Wings for Life World Run, recounted his own encounter with a spinal cord injury and stressed the influence the event will have on enhancing the lives of those impacted worldwide.
In separate news concerning corporate social accountability, the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) declared that the 2024 UK National Racehorse Week charitable wagering day garnered over £1.5 million (equivalent to $18,662.63 USD).
