Both Genting Malaysia and Berjaya Corporation have officially refuted claims of their participation in talks concerning a possible second casino in Johor’s Forest City, as reported by Malaysia’s The Star newspaper.

These refutations follow Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s dismissal of the speculation as “groundless” and “entirely false.” Genting Malaysia released a declaration stating that neither the corporation nor its chairman, Lim Kok Thay, had engaged in any such conversations, deeming the accusations “unsubstantiated.”

Berjaya Corporation has escalated the matter, lodging a police complaint regarding the allegations and issuing a media statement via The Star to clarify their stance. The firm reiterated that it has “not participated in any such dialogues with any entities” cited in the reports and “rejects all such harmful assertions.”
